Dashboards: Company Events

Depending on your set-up, the Company Events section of the dashboard can include several different dashboards, including ESG Controversies, Risk Events, and SDG Positive Impact. These Company Events dashboards offer a historical view of unique company events, helping you identify peaks in events (such as controversies) while putting them in historical context.

ESG Controversies

The ESG Controversy dashboard allows you to quickly dive into the ESG controversy events at a particular company. In just 1 or 2 clicks, you can identify spikes in controversies and uncover what is driving the spike, potentially catching material risks that would otherwise be missed.

Get started by clicking on the ESG Controversy dashboard and searching for a company in your universe. Once you select a company, you’ll arrive on its ESG Controversy dashboard page and can immediately observe all of the related controversies.

The Risk Gauges (on the left) evaluate a company’s magnitude of exposure to ESG risk. Each of the E, S, and G risk items display a score from 0 to 5 to show the intensity of the company’s exposure to these individual items.

Meanwhile, the central bar graph maps the controversies over time. The system scores each event, providing an Intensity Score from 1 to 5, helping you understand quantitatively the severity of a controversy. The red and dark red bars represent events with the highest level of intensity and therefore severity.

The system also automatically assesses the event type, categorizing it by risk (Environmental, Social, or Governance) and subrisk. This bar chart can easily be filtered by event type, date, and level of controversy.

Controversies Table

Below the bar chart, you will find all of the relevant articles based on your search criteria (i.e., event type, date, and level of controversy. These articles are by default double sorted, first by the Intensity Score (in descending order), then by date (most recent date first). Also, by default, only controversies scoring High (4 or 5) or Medium (3) intensity are displayed. However, you can modify these settings as needed.

We provide full transparency and access to each article with relevant metadata such as sentiment, risk, and subrisk type. Click on the title to open the article. From there, you can change the source, see the total number of articles in that cluster, translate the article, add it to a reading list, download it, or share it (via a link copied to your clipboard).

Below the Controversies Table are a few visualizations to help you dive into the data.

Treemap: Count of Controversies by Subrisk

The treemap summarises sub-risk exposure over the period in question, showing the proportion of controversies related to each ESG sub-risk. It's a fast, easy way to visualize and compare the number of controversies.

You can filter the treemap by clicking on the risk or subrisk you're interested in. The entire dashboard will update to reflect your selection, allowing you to dive into the details.

Controversy Risk Exposure Heatmap

The Controversy Risk Exposure Heatmap offers an easy, visual way to assess an entity’s reputational risk profile. All material events involving the company (in the 1-5 intensity score range) are screened. The risk level for each subrisk is determined by the maximum intensity score of detected controversies. "None" indicates that no relevant controversies have been found for that sub-risk.

By clicking on a subrisk, you can access the list of
related events and read the articles. Only events with the same intensity score as the heatmap category indicator are displayed.
